Week 3

Working with new technology can be a bait challenging if it is only
done sporadically. I did the first post three weeks ago, then left for vacation
and forgot everything I had done. There is a lesson there for those of us
in education. Just because we have taught something once, it doesn't mean
that students will remember it if we do not constantly re-enforce what we
have taught.

I did play with Flicker, and found several things that could be done with it for assignments and student reports. However, administrators have not kept up with new technology possibilities. Flicker is blocked at our school, so students will not be able to use it unless they can find it and learn to use it at home by themselves. It seems a shame.

I forget these things too if I don't use them regularly. Too bad about Flickr. I wonder if there is a similar site that your district doesn't block?

Welcome back to School Library Learning 2.0 -- you will get back into the swing of things real soon! In fact, you can easily go back and edit a post if you notice that you have a typo or forgot to mention something special.

As to district blocking, go ahead and send a note to the IT department and let them know that you need to be unblocked for this professional development course. It doesn't mean they have to unblock the whole school -- just your workstation account.

Best wishes.
